Valley Forge Casino Resort said Monday it has named a seasoned industry veteran as its top executive.

Saverio R. “Sal” Scheri has 27 years of experience in the field, including jobs as general manager of Morongo Casino Resort & Spa near Palm Springs, Calif., and president and CEO of WhiteSand Gaming, which is based in Las Vegas.

Valley Forge Casino, which is slated to open in the spring, will be connected to the Valley Forge Convention Center and feature 50 table games and 600 slot machines.

The project is expected to cost $100 million and create 500 permanent jobs.
