WhiteSand Gaming President and CEO Saverio Scheri addressed over 150 state legislators from around the country at the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States Winter Meeting in Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday, Jan 11. His presentation addressed the expansion of gaming in new and existing jurisdictions, tax rates, and the potential for over-saturation.
“Balancing tax rates and casino regulations with locations and capacity can be like walking a tight-rope: lean too much in one direction and you have wide-spread failure. We see some gaming jurisdictions with very successful casinos and some with casinos in bankruptcy. There are lessons to be learned and today’s environment is different than it was just five years ago, requiring a hybrid approach” said Scheri.
The 2014 Winter Meeting featured presentations from legislators from across the country where they addressed issues such as internet gaming, expansion, tax rates, and casino regulations.
